Southern NH Skating Club P.O. Box 4478, Manchester, NH 03108 www.snhsc.com 603-485-6144
The Southern New Hampshire skating club is
dedicated to growing well rounded skaters. We are
offering a variety of programs beyond Learn to Skate
and freestyle ice so your skater can be exposed to
as many forms of skating as possible. Our programs
often include:
Ice Dance – Open to Skaters in Freeskate 1 and above
Ice Dancing is one of the principle disciplines in figure
skating, and one upon which the Southern NH Skating Club
was built! Skaters will begin – or continue – to learn the
dance patterns required for US Figure Skating’s dance tests,
while focusing on the proper steps, technique and
understanding of music counts and tempos. Depending on
level of mastery, skaters may be ready to test these dances
at a USFS test session!
Power & Edge I – Open to Skaters in Basic 4 through Pre-
Freestyle (Formerly Basics 7 & 8)
All skaters will spend part of the session working on
developing power while refining proper skating technique.
Skaters will continue to create a solid foundation of
technique, body position, and edges by applying them to
elements they’ve already learned (crossovers, 3-turns,
glides, etc.), and expanding their skill set in a more focused
environment than Learn to Skate. Other skating disciplines
may also be touched upon during the session at the coach’s
discretion.
Power & Edge II – Open to Skaters Freeskate 1 and
above
All skaters will spend part of the session working on
developing power while refining proper skating technique.
Advanced skaters will take their knowledge of edges and
build upon it while working on advanced turns, edges
within footwork, and turns at speed. Other skating
disciplines may also be touched upon in the six weeks at
the coach’s discretion.
FUNdamentals of Skating – Open to Skaters Basic 4 and
above
Skaters will get into a closer examination of the turns,
jumps and spins that skaters are working on in their Learn
to Skate classes or private lessons, and will touch upon
elements that every coach wants their skaters to know and
understand!
Intro to Synchro – Open to Skaters Basic 4 and above
Skaters will participate in Learn to Skate USA’s Synchro
Badge program. They will get a closer and more in depth
understanding of the discipline’s five major components:
wheels, circles, lines, intersections and blocks.
Step it Up! – Open to Skaters in Basics 1 through 3
This program gives those skaters who want some extra ice
time in a group setting move through the beginning levels.
This session will reinforce and build on what skaters are
receiving in their Learn to Skate class.
Exhibition Prep - Open to all skaters regardless of age
and ability.
Skaters interested in skating in our annual exhibition will be
assigned to a group. With their group and coach, they’ll
learn a program that will be performed in front of our VERY
supportive audience on the evening of December 10 at
Sullivan Arena. Cost includes your skater’s entry fee for the
Exhibition! Skaters will be placed in groups by skill level and
age, if possible, where appropriate.
